Anonymous gameplay data
Magickmia sends anonymous data about how the game is played so we can balance the magic, fix bugs and make the game run smoothly on more computers. We don't know who you are, and we don't want to.
You can turn it off at any time in Opciones › Juego (Options › Game) with «Enviar datos de juego anónimos» (send anonymous gameplay data), also from the pause menu; the game is in Spanish for now. With it off, the game neither stores nor sends anything. We tell you the first time you open the game, and nothing is sent before you see that notice.
What is sent
- A random identifier created on your computer when the game is installed, plus another one each time you open it. It isn't tied to your name, your profile or any account.
- Technical data: game version, operating system, language, graphics card, screen resolution and a few settings (for example, whether you use touch controls).
- What gets played: mode and difficulty, how long each run lasts, how far you get, which cards are offered and which you pick, how many spells of each kind you cast, achievements, why you go down and how the run ends.
- Performance: frames per second, stutters, memory and, in co-op, connection latency.
- Errors from the game, with a snippet of the technical log so we can fix them.
What is never sent or stored
- Your name, your wizard name, your email or your profile.
- Your IP address: the server only uses it for a moment, in memory, to prevent abuse (by limiting how often data can be sent), and does not store it.
- No file paths from your computer and no user name: error messages are cleaned up before they're sent.
Where it goes and why
The data goes to our own server, and we only use it to improve Magickmia: to see which combinations get used, where people get stuck, what breaks and how the game performs. No ads, no selling, no sharing.
Like any internet connection, the traffic goes through Cloudflare, our network provider, which needs the IP address to deliver it.
